Later that night, the kitchen was clean.

But not because she had finished it.

Because he had.

She sat at the table, watching him quietly. “You didn’t have to do all that…”

He smiled, placing a warm cup of tea in front of her.

“I should have done it sooner.”

Her voice trembled. “I thought… I had to endure it. For you.”

He knelt beside her, gently holding her hands.

“You never have to suffer in silence for me.”

Tears fell again—but this time, they weren’t from exhaustion.

They were from relief.

From being seen.

From being protected.

From finally being chosen.
