PART 7 – A New Beginning

“She’s stable,” the doctor said.
“And the baby?”
He smiled.
“Strong.”
My knees nearly gave out.
When I entered the room, Anna was exhausted—but smiling.
“I told you…” she whispered. “Our baby is strong.”
I took her hand, pressing it gently against my forehead.
“I’m sorry,” I said. “For not seeing it sooner.”
She shook her head weakly.
“You’re here now.”
And that was enough.
Weeks later, we moved out.
Far away from that house.
Far away from the shadows.
When our daughter was born, I held her for the first time and made a promise:
“No one will ever hurt you. Not while I’m here.”
Anna smiled beside me.
And for the first time in months—
There was no fear in her eyes.
Only peace.
May you like
Only love.
And the quiet beginning of a life we should have protected from the start.
