Chapter 16: Davies Takes the Stand

The courtroom was pin-drop silent as Arthur Davies, stripped of his expensive suits and wearing standard jail-issued clothing, took the oath. He looked like a broken man, but his testimony was incredibly sharp.

Guided by the prosecution, Davies meticulously unpacked the entire conspiracy. He detailed the creation of the fake embezzlement ledgers, the forged emails, and finally, the offshore wire transfer intended to finance his assassination.

Eleanor could not take it anymore. The illusion of her supreme control was evaporating on public television. She violently slammed her hands on the defense table, standing up and pointing a trembling finger at her former lawyer.

"You incompetent parasite!" she shrieked, her voice echoing off the courtroom walls. "I made you! You are nothing without my money!"

In that single outburst of unfiltered rage, Eleanor destroyed any lingering shadow of a doubt about her true nature.

The judge slammed his gavel, threatening to remove her, but the damage was irreversible. The jury shrank back in their seats, horrified by the monster standing before them.
