The courtroom was practically suffocating when court resumed at 9:00 AM.

Latham stood at his table, radiating pure arrogance, entirely confident that we had nothing to show.

Victor Hale sat beside him, casually checking his gold watch as if he had a golf game to get to.

"Ms. Moore," Judge Vance said, looking exhausted.

"You promised this court physical proof by this morning."

I stood up on my chair, my bruised and scraped knees visible beneath my dress.

"I have it, Your Honor," I said.

I reached into my battered folder and pulled out the sealed plastic bag filled with the toxic gray powder.

Latham's arrogant smile vanished instantly.

Hale actually stood up, knocking his chair over backward with a loud clatter.

"This is a sample of the restricted-grade chemical meal supplement taken directly from Crestwood's private storage facility at 1:00 AM this morning," I announced.
