Chapter 12: The Intruder
Desperation breeds reckless stupidity. Out on a heavily leveraged bail, Julian managed to bypass the hospital's exterior checkpoints using an expired medical vendor ID. Sweating, disheveled, and completely unhinged, he slipped through a service corridor and breached the maternity ward.
"Clara!" he shouted, bursting through the double doors, desperate to secure custody rights as his last piece of legal leverage.
He didn't make it three steps. Arthur’s private security detail tackled him with brutal efficiency. A heavy boot pinned Julian's face to the linoleum floor, completely immobilizing him before Clara even had to look up from her hospital bed.
