Chapter 7 - The Executive Confrontation

Thomas Vance slammed his phone shut as the elevator doors chimed.

He spun around to face the wide hallway.

His perfectly tailored gray suit could not hide the rising panic spreading across his face.

"Victor, what the hell is going on?" Thomas demanded loudly.

"My access card was denied, and my terminal is completely locked."

Victor stepped out of the elevator slowly.

His two large security guards moved silently behind him, effectively blocking any escape.

"It is over, Thomas," Victor stated coldly.

Thomas let out a nervous, strained laugh.

"What are you talking about, old friend?" Thomas asked, stepping cautiously forward.

Victor held up a thick black folder containing the printed financial documents.

"I know about the offshore accounts," Victor said.

"I know about the phantom investments you used to siphon our company funds."

Thomas froze, his forced smile instantly vanishing.

"And most importantly, I know about your secret conversations with my wife," Victor added.

His voice dropped to a dangerous, icy whisper.

Thomas took a slow, defensive step backward.

"Victor, you have to listen to me," Thomas pleaded desperately.

"She completely manipulated me into it."

"She said you were losing your mind and running this empire into the ground!"

Victor did not blink.

He felt absolutely no sympathy for the man he had once called a brother.

"You plotted to steal my company," Victor said evenly.

"But targeting my seven-year-old son crossed a line you can never uncross."

Victor turned slightly toward his head of security.

"Escort Mr. Vance out of the building," Victor commanded.

"The police are already waiting for him in the main lobby."

The two guards stepped forward and firmly grabbed Thomas by the arms.

"You cannot do this, Victor!" Thomas screamed as they dragged him away.

"I built this entire company with you!"

Victor watched him disappear behind the heavy steel doors of the freight elevator.

The silence that finally fell over the executive floor was absolute.

Victor straightened his tie and unlocked his office door.

The first major threat was eliminated, but he knew Evelyn was still out there.
