Inside the train’s locomotive was a key Ethan had never seen.
The teenager said a man promised him five hundred dollars and waited at the old cemetery.

He left behind a note addressed to Ethan.
It said the key opened a safe deposit box containing proof that Claire had planned to take Ethan away from Margaret and disappear.
Claire insisted it was another manipulation.

The bank confirmed that Claire had rented the box six months earlier.
Inside were passports, cash, and two airline tickets bearing Claire’s and Ethan’s names.
