Chapter 11 - The Empty Crystal.

Blackthorne House glowed against the storm as though the ruined dinner had never happened.
Servants had replaced the broken china, relit the candles, and covered the overturned table with white linen.
Board members and shareholders filled the dining room while cameras streamed Adrian's speech to every Vale Meridian office.
He stood beneath the chandelier in the same black suit, freshly pressed and perfectly calm.
"A former employee and her accomplices attempted to steal this company with forged evidence."
Claire entered through the main doors before security could announce her.
Her white shirt remained stained, her hair had fallen loose, and the black phone rested openly in her hand.
Every face turned toward her.
Adrian smiled for the cameras.
"The thief returns."
"The owner returns," Claire said.
Mara distributed copies of Thomas's will while Quinn presented the order protecting Eleanor as a material witness.
Eleanor entered behind them, supported by Elias.
The room reacted with gasps, whispered prayers, and one dropped champagne glass.
Adrian's expression did not move, but his fingers tightened around the lectern.
"That woman is not my sister."
Eleanor recited the private sentence Thomas had written beneath the will's signature.
"When power burns the house, truth survives in the ash."
Several directors recognized the words from Thomas's final board address.
Adrian demanded a formal test and accused Eleanor of conspiring with Claire.
"Gladly," Claire said.
"First, we authenticate the ledger."
The chandelier's lowest crystal hung twelve feet above the polished floor.
Elias activated the maintenance winch hidden behind the west panel.
The lights descended slowly while Adrian ordered Jonah to stop them.
Jonah stepped forward, then noticed state officers covering both exits.
Claire reached into the falling ring of crystal and found one piece wrapped in thin silver wire.
She opened it over the table.
The compartment was empty.
Adrian laughed, and the shareholders began murmuring again.
"Your final miracle has failed."
Claire looked at Helena, who had entered unnoticed in a hospital coat over her cream dress.
"Where is it?"
Helena stared at the empty crystal with genuine fear.
"I put it there myself."
Jonah ran toward the service hall.
Quinn caught him at the door and found the authentication key taped beneath his watch.
Jonah claimed Adrian had ordered him to remove it after Helena collapsed.
Adrian called the guard a liar and tried to end the broadcast.
Eleanor inserted the key and metal drive into Mara's secured laptop.
Thomas's digital seal appeared beside thousands of transactions.
Recordings opened with them, including Adrian threatening pension trustees and ordering Brenner to erase bridge evidence.
One file contained Helena's voice authorizing payments to Rook.
The room turned toward her.
Mara placed a hand over the transmit button.
"This recording implicates you as well."
Several shareholders demanded the broadcast stop, but others raised their phones and began recording independently.
For the first time, the Vale name could no longer control every copy of its own history.
Helena removed her hospital coat and stood beneath the chandelier in the same stained cream lace.
"Release all of it."
Adrian pushed through the guests and grabbed Claire's phone.
At the same moment, a dining room curtain burst into flame.
The restored candles had been connected to a hidden line of accelerant.
Adrian ran into the smoke while alarms failed to sound.

Claire watched him disappear with the only device still transmitting Echo.
