CHAPTER 4: THE REAL TARGET

The device was removed carefully.
The baby cried once… then settled, as if the pain had finally faded.
Emma held him close, gently rocking him.
Meanwhile, Adrian studied the device.
“It’s not just a tracker,” his tech specialist said. “It’s a trigger.”
“Trigger for what?”
The man hesitated.
Then: “An explosive.”
The words hit like a gunshot.
Emma froze.
“They were planning to detonate it remotely,” the specialist continued. “In this room.”
Adrian’s jaw tightened.
“This wasn’t about spying,” Emma whispered. “It was about killing everyone here.”
Adrian looked at her.
And for the first time, there was something unexpected in his gaze.
