Police sirens echoed faintly in the distance.
Adrian’s men had already traced the signal.
A rival organization.
They wanted to wipe him out—clean, silent, and absolute.
But they failed.
Because of her.
Emma handed the baby back carefully.
“He’s okay now,” she said softly.
Adrian didn’t take his eyes off her. “You walked into danger without hesitation.”
Emma gave a small, tired smile. “He was just a baby.”
Adrian studied her for a long moment.
