Chapter 13: Alexander’s Quiet Strength
Alexander continued to surprise Victoria with his patience and kindness.
He never tried to force a relationship with Lily. Instead, he let her come to him naturally. Over time, Lily started seeking him out — asking him to help with her homework, or to play board games with her on weekends.
One afternoon, Victoria found them sitting on the living room floor, building a complicated Lego castle together. Lily was laughing at something Alexander had said.
Later that night, after Lily had gone to bed, Victoria turned to Alexander.
“Thank you,” she said softly. “For being so good to her. For not making this harder than it already is.”
Alexander took her hand.

Victoria felt her heart swell with love for this man who had every right to walk away but chose to stay and build a life with them instead.
