Chapter 5: The Wedding That Became Something More

The reception didn’t continue as planned.
Most of the guests left quietly after the shocking revelation. But Alexander didn’t leave. He stayed. He talked to Lily. He asked Victoria questions — not with anger, but with a desire to understand.
Later that night, when most people had gone, Alexander found Victoria sitting alone on a bench outside the venue, still holding the locket.
He sat down beside her.
“I’m not going to lie,” he said quietly. “This is a lot. You lied to me about your mother. You have a daughter you never told me about. But…”
He looked at her.
“I also saw how that little girl looked at you. And how you looked at her. I can’t just walk away from that.”
Victoria turned to him, tears in her eyes.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered. “I was scared. I thought if you knew the truth, you wouldn’t want me anymore.”
Alexander took her hand.
“I married you because I love you. Not because your life was perfect. We can figure this out. Together.”
Inside the venue, Lily was sitting with Eleanor, laughing at something the older woman said. For the first time in years, the little girl looked truly happy.
Victoria watched them through the window and felt something she hadn’t felt in a long time.
Hope.
Her mother was alive.
Her daughter was no longer a secret.
And the man she had just married hadn’t run away when the truth came out.
