Chapter 10 - Elena's Last Message.

The memory card held a complete video recorded by Elena three days before Leo's birth.
She spoke calmly from a hospital room and named every account she had reviewed.
She displayed original statements, described Grant's pressure, and explained Bianca's involvement.
Elena also addressed Julian directly.
She told him grief would make ordinary tasks feel impossible, but difficulty was not failure.
She said he would know the right people by the way they treated Leo when no one important was watching.
Julian stopped the video and cried without hiding his face.
Sophia sat across the room with Leo, giving him privacy without leaving him alone.
When the video resumed, Elena mentioned Sophia by name.
She had approved the agency's recommendation before entering the hospital.
Celeste had later altered the file under Grant's pressure.
"If Sophia is there," Elena said, "it means at least one plan of mine survived." The statement destroyed the claim that Sophia entered the house without authorization.
Maya prepared authenticated copies for the hearing.
Marcus verified the memory card's creation date and confirmed there were no edits.
For the first time, their evidence felt complete.
Grant responded with a final maneuver.
He withdrew as family attorney and offered to testify against Bianca in exchange for civil immunity.
His statement blamed every major decision on her.
Bianca now faced the consequences of trusting the man who had trapped her.
She asked Julian to meet privately.
He agreed only if Maya and the court supervisor attended.
Bianca admitted that she had taken the original recorder.
She had hidden it inside a foundation safe because Grant told her Elena's accusations would ruin the family.
"You mean they would ruin you," Julian said.
Bianca did not deny it.
She offered the recorder in exchange for Julian asking the court to dismiss the financial investigation.
Sophia expected him to hesitate because Bianca was his sister.
He did not.
"Leo will grow up knowing that family is not permission to escape the truth." Bianca called him ungrateful.
Julian reminded her that she had tried to take his child while he was mourning.
The meeting ended without agreement.
Minutes before the hearing, Bianca sent the original recorder to Maya.
She included no apology.
She included a message saying Grant had another witness.
Inside the courthouse, Grant sat beside a woman Sophia had never seen.
The woman introduced herself as Rachel Reed.
She was Sophia's estranged aunt and former guardian.
Under oath, Rachel claimed Sophia had always pursued wealthy families and had once been dismissed for becoming emotionally attached to a child.
Sophia felt the courtroom turn toward her.
Grant had lost control of the family evidence.
