That night, Nathan called the police.
Victoria didn’t scream.
She didn’t beg.
She simply watched,
her expression unreadable,
as the officers placed her in handcuffs.
“You’ll destroy this family,”
she said quietly.
Nathan looked at his children,
finally asleep on the couch.
“No,” he replied. “I’m saving it.”
The butler stood in the doorway, tears in his eyes.
“I’m sorry, sir,” he said. “
We didn’t know how to help.”
Nathan nodded.
“It’s over now.”
