Chapter 15 - The Ironclad Evidence

When Sarah was called to testify, the defense immediately went on the offensive. They tried to paint her as a rogue, aggressive soldier who had staged a dramatic rescue that endangered medical professionals.
"Colonel Vance," the defense attorney sneered, "isn't it true that you aggressively confronted Dr. Sterling, essentially setting a trap to record her without her consent?"
"I confronted a woman who was illegally holding my daughter hostage," Sarah replied, her voice cool and level. "As for the recording, it was captured in a public hallway where there is no legal expectation of privacy. I didn't set a trap; I simply allowed her to speak her mind."

The prosecution then played the audio. Once again, Victoria’s arrogant voice filled a room: “I control the narratives in this town, Colonel. You are nothing here.”
Hearing it in the formal, echoing space of the courtroom stripped away any illusion of medical authority. It was the undeniable sound of a tyrant, caught in her own hubris. The jury visibly bristled.
