Chapter 10 - The Negotiator's Fall.

"Then what do you want?" Marcus sobbed, clutching his bleeding leg.

"I want the names of the board members who sanctioned the hit on my mother," she demanded.

Marcus hesitated, a flicker of defiance crossing his terrified eyes.

"If I tell you, they'll kill me," he whispered.

"If you don't tell me, I'll kill you right now," Elara countered, pressing the barrel of her gun against his forehead.

He swallowed hard, his eyes darting frantically around the ruined room.

"It's on a drive," he stammered, pointing a trembling finger into the vault.

"In the black lockbox on the bottom shelf."

Elara kept her gun trained on him as she reached into the vault and retrieved the small metal box.

She opened it, verifying the encrypted drive was inside, and slipped it into her pocket.

"You have what you want," Marcus pleaded.

"Yes, I do," Elara said, and she pulled the trigger.
