Chapter 15 - The Unseen Hand.

The helicopter leveled out, flying low over the glittering, rain-slicked city.

Elara waited for her father's voice to come through the headset resting on the seat beside her.

She put the headset on, pressing the comms button to signal she was secure.

"Dad, I'm away," she said, watching the city lights blur below them.

Static hissed in her ear, followed by a long, unsettling silence.

"You did beautifully, Elara," a voice finally replied.

It wasn't her father.

The voice belonged to the man in the blue suit from the ballroom, the one who had laughed at her.

Elara's blood ran cold as she looked toward the cockpit, realizing the pilot was staring back at her through the reflection of the glass.

"Did you really think we wouldn't anticipate the daughter's revenge?" the voice purred over the comms.

The helicopter suddenly changed course, plunging into the dark, uncharted airspace over the ocean.
