Evelyn's signature appeared on every early withdrawal.

Evelyn's composure finally cracked.
Adrian attempted to end the meeting.
Claire asked Evelyn why she had protected him.

The false identity belonged to a fictional Claire Ashford, but the embedded travel record led to a private island company owned by Adrian alone.
He had planned to leave both families carrying his accusations.
Evelyn turned toward her son.
Adrian did not deny it.
He simply reminded her that she had taught him never to confuse affection with leverage.
The room fell silent around the cruelty of her own lesson.
Evelyn removed one statement earring and placed it on the table, a nervous habit Claire remembered from earlier negotiations.
Inside the hollow clasp was a tiny storage chip.
Evelyn admitted she had recorded Adrian for months because she never fully trusted him.
She offered the chip to Claire in exchange for immunity from Ashford Bank's civil claims.
Naomi said Evelyn could not negotiate away public accountability.
Evelyn withdrew her hand.
Adrian smiled and told his mother the chip was useless.

Evelyn connected the chip to a boardroom computer.
The files were empty.
Her last defense had been anticipated.
Adrian ordered the officers to proceed.
As Claire was led away, Rebecca sent a message to the boardroom screen.
