Chapter 2 - The Revelation

Eleanor unzipped the wallet to check its contents, expecting missing cash. Instead, her manicured fingers brushed against something stiff tucked behind the lining. She pulled it out: an old, faded, black-and-white photograph of two young girls smiling brightly.
Eleanor’s breath hitched. The grand foyer seemed to tilt around her.
"Say that again," Eleanor demanded, her eyes wide, her voice dropping to a harsh, trembling whisper. "What did you just say?"

The young girl, sobbing and shivering, looked up at the imposing woman. "It belongs to my sister," she cried out.
Eleanor covered her mouth, her fierce demeanor shattering instantly. "My little..." she whispered, unable to finish the sentence.
