Eleanor returned to the parlor. Lily sat on the edge of a velvet sofa, freshly washed and wrapped in an oversized cashmere blanket, looking tiny and lost.

"Lily," Eleanor said, sitting closely beside her. "I'm not going to call the police. You are safe here."

Lily looked up, her eyes wide with cautious disbelief. "Why?"

Eleanor gently placed the photograph on the coffee table between them. "Because the older girl in this picture is me. And if this belonged to your sister Sarah, then we are going to find her together."

For the first time in decades, Eleanor felt a genuine spark of hope. She was no longer just a corporate titan; she was a sister on a mission.
