Chapter 7 - The Ironclad Defense

High above the city, Emma sat in the sunlit nursery of her penthouse. The twins, Leo and Mia, were sleeping soundly in their cribs, bathed in the warm morning light. Emma gently stroked Mia’s tiny hand, a fierce, protective love swelling in her chest.
Mr. Vance sat in the adjacent sitting room, organizing a thick stack of legal briefs.
"The eviction was executed smoothly, Ms. Hayes," Vance reported as Emma walked in, leaving the nursery door slightly ajar. "All of Adrian's corporate access has been revoked. His accounts are frozen."
"Good," Emma said, taking a seat across from him. "But the money isn't what I care about, Richard. I care about the custody hearing."

"Adrian has no legal leg to stand on," Vance assured her. "His attempt to serve you with fraudulent custody papers while evicting you in freezing weather is textbook child endangerment. We also have sworn affidavits from his former staff regarding his emotional neglect."
Emma nodded, her eyes hardening. "I want him entirely stripped of his parental rights. Not just for what he did to me, but because a man who can look at ten-day-old infants in the snow and feel nothing is not a father. He is a danger."
