Chapter 14: The Heir

Four weeks later, in the quiet, early hours of a rainy Tuesday morning, the Vance estate sprang into highly organized action.

There was no chaotic rush to a crowded city hospital. Arthur had arranged for a private maternity suite at the region's top medical center, complete with a specialized care team. When Vivian’s water broke, the transition was seamless, calm, and entirely focused on her comfort.

Twelve hours later, the sound of a strong, healthy baby’s cry filled the hospital room.

Vivian lay back against the pillows, exhausted, sweaty, but glowing with an indescribable, radiant joy. The nurse gently placed the swaddled newborn onto her chest. He was perfect—a tiny, warm weight with a full head of dark hair and a pair of alert, bright eyes.

Arthur stood by the bed, a man who regularly commanded boardrooms and dismantled corporate empires, now reduced to silent, awe-struck tears.

"He's beautiful, Viv," Arthur whispered, gently reaching out to stroke the baby's tiny cheek with a massive finger.

"Meet Leo," Vivian said softly, smiling down at her son. "Leo Arthur Vance."

Arthur’s breath hitched at the name. He leaned down, kissing Vivian’s forehead, then softly kissing the top of little Leo’s head.

Outside, the storm cleared, giving way to a brilliant, vibrant sunset. As Vivian held her son close, surrounded by the fierce, unwavering love of her father, she knew they were exactly where they were meant to be. The legacy of the Vance family wasn't just wealth; it was strength, loyalty, and unconditional love. And little Leo had just inherited it all.
