.The original amendment was found in Vivian's bedroom safe behind a false jewelry drawer.
The witness signature belonged to Mara Bennett.
Elena stared at her mother's name.
Richard looked at Vivian with open disgust.
"You had this for thirty years."
Vivian corrected him.
"Thirty-one."
The precision made Elena hate her more.
The original document stated that Harold Blackwood had met Mara secretly and believed she was carrying Richard's child.
He amended the trust because he feared Vivian's family would attempt to erase any competing heir.
Mara had signed as witness.
Adrian's copy had been created later as a protective duplicate after Mara disappeared.
Richard asked Adrian why he forged the witness line.
Adrian admitted Harold had ordered him to create a secondary version so Vivian could not destroy the only proof.
Nick looked at Adrian.
"So you sometimes protected Elena and sometimes helped destroy her?"
Adrian swallowed.
"I spent my life doing whatever kept your mother from exposing me."
Nick's expression hardened.
"Exposing you as my father."
Adrian nodded.
Vivian sat at the dressing table as if the confession bored her.
"You wanted the Blackwood name, Adrian."
"I wanted my son."
"You wanted Richard's money."
Richard slammed the safe shut.
"Enough."
He turned to Nick.
"I raised you."
Nick's eyes filled but he did not cry.
"I know."
"That does not disappear because of a test."
Nick looked at Elena.
"But everything else changes."
Elena understood what he meant.
They were not siblings.
Their marriage had never been incestuous.
Lily was not born from the nightmare they had feared.
Relief came first.
Then anger returned.
Nick stepped toward Elena.
"Elena, we can fix us."
She stared at him.
"No."
He stopped.
"We know the truth now."
"I know the truth about your blood."
She looked toward the driveway beyond the window.
"I also know the truth about your character."
Nick flinched.
"You told a woman four days after surgery to get out before sunset."
"You signed divorce papers because your mother whispered that I was inconvenient."
"You stood there while she called our daughter a problem."
Nick's voice broke.
"I was wrong."
"Yes."
The simplicity of her answer ended the conversation.
Richard watched them with a sorrow he could not repair.
Later that night, the trust attorneys arrived with forensic document specialists.
The original amendment was photographed, sealed, and removed for authentication.
One attorney quietly told Richard that if the document held, Elena would gain voting control over nearly eleven percent of Blackwood Industries.
That block would make her the single most influential family shareholder after Richard.
Vivian heard him.
Her calm finally shattered.
"She knows nothing about the company."
Elena looked at her.
"I knew nothing about this family either."
"I learned fast."
Vivian's eyes turned cold.
"You think money makes you safe?"
Elena held Lily closer.
"No."
"Evidence does."
Vivian smiled in a way that made Elena uneasy.
At that moment, a security officer entered carrying a plastic evidence bag.
Inside was the portable hard drive from the mansion's camera system.
He placed it on Richard's desk.
"The night the baby was taken, someone deleted ninety-seven minutes of footage."
