Chapter 11 - The Panic

In her eighth month, the tranquility was broken by a sudden, sharp pain. Elara was reading in the mansion's garden when she gasped, clutching her stomach. The pain was blinding, a tight, agonizing band wrapping around her abdomen.
Marcus, the head of security, immediately radioed Daniel. Within seconds, Daniel was sprinting out the French doors, his composure entirely abandoned. He scooped Elara into his arms as if she weighed nothing.

"Hang on, Elara. I've got you," he urged, his voice tight with raw panic.
He didn't wait for an ambulance. Daniel loaded her into the back of his armored SUV, commanding his driver to break every traffic law to get to the private hospital. In the backseat, he held Elara's hand in a vice grip, his other hand gently resting on her swollen belly. "Breathe, Elara. You're going to be okay. I won't let anything happen to you."
