Chapter 6 - The Dismissal
The silence in the grand foyer was absolute, broken only by Elara’s quiet, ragged breathing. Daniel kept his arm firmly around her, a physical shield against the hundreds of staring eyes.
"Dan, please, you have to understand," Victoria stammered, the color draining from her perfectly contoured face. "She ruined my gown. She was being careless."
"The engagement is over, Victoria," Daniel said. His voice was not raised, but the flat, icy finality in his tone sent a shiver through the room. "Pack your things. If you are still on my property in an hour, my security team will forcefully remove you."

"You can't be serious!" Victoria’s voice pitched into a hysterical shrill. "Over a clumsy maid? My father will pull the merger! He will ruin you!"
"Let him try," Daniel replied calmly. He didn't spare her another glance. Instead, he signaled to his head of security, a towering man named Marcus, who immediately stepped forward to escort the disgraced socialite away. Daniel then turned his full attention back to Elara. "Let's get you to a doctor," he murmured, guiding her gently through the parted sea of shocked guests.
