Chapter 19: Learning to Begin Again

Back at the house, the little girl sat on the floor, drawing with quiet focus.

Crayons scattered around her.

Lines imperfect.

Colors outside the edges.

But she didn’t try to fix them.

She just kept going.

The woman in blue watched from the doorway.

“You don’t mind when it’s messy?” she asked.

The girl looked up.

“It’s supposed to be,” she said.

The woman in blue stepped closer, sitting down beside her.

“I think I forgot that,” she admitted.

The girl handed her a crayon.

“Then you can learn again.”

The woman hesitated—then took it.

And for the first time in a long time, she didn’t try to control the outcome.

She just drew.

Messy.

Real.

Free.

Across the room, the floral pillow sat on a chair.

No longer hidden.

No longer powerful.

Just an object.

Its meaning had changed.

Because now, the truth around it had changed.
