Water hammered the white roses and sent guests running beneath tables.
Grant swung toward Margaret.
Detective Hayes struck his arm before he could aim.
The pistol fired into the empty arch, showering the aisle with splintered wood.
Ethan dropped to his knees and tore at the hidden grate.
"Lily!"
Her fingers appeared through the opening.
Daniel dragged the metal frame aside while Ethan reached into the tunnel.
He pulled Lily upward and wrapped her against his chest.
She was shaking, barefoot, and furious.
"You were going to marry her again," she cried.
"Only long enough to bring you home."
Grant broke free from Hayes and disappeared through the crowd.
Vivienne stood motionless beneath the sprinklers as her veil collapsed against her dark hair.
"He threatened me too," she shouted.
"I had no idea Lily was below us."
Ethan looked at her with exhausted disbelief.
"Your voice was on the video."
"Grant forced me to read his message."
She turned toward the reporters still recording from the terrace.
"I am a victim of the Cole family's criminal secrets."
Margaret stepped in front of her.
"You will not use our sins to hide yours."
Vivienne slapped her.
The sound cut through the storm of sprinklers.
Then Vivienne ran toward the main house.
Ethan started after her, but Lily clung to him.
He chose the child.
Detective Hayes found the microphone Daniel had placed beneath the altar.
It had captured Grant's order, Vivienne asking where the real ledger was, and Marcus speaking from a hidden earpiece.
"Take the girl through the west tunnel if Ethan moves."
The recording proved a conspiracy, but not who had ordered Caroline's death.
Police searched the estate and found Grant's wet jacket near the loading bay.
His car remained in the parking area.
Vivienne's limousine was also gone.
Margaret opened the estate's vehicle tracker.
The limousine beacon moved west toward Lake Road.
"She took the decoy ledger," Daniel said.
Ethan had placed a false copy beneath the piano as bait.
A tracker was sewn into its binding.
Lily tugged Ethan's sleeve.
"There was someone else in the tunnel."
"Who?"
"I heard him coughing behind the wall."
She described a man calling her name and striking a pipe three times.
Eden used the same signal at the chapel.
Hayes called the county jail.
Eden had been released before midnight after an anonymous attorney posted his bond.
He had never reached the estate.
Ethan looked at the tracker moving toward the place where Caroline died.
Vivienne had the false ledger.
Paramedics examined Lily inside the library while she refused to release Ethan's hand.
She had a shallow cut beneath her headband and marks from the rope, but no serious injuries.
The caseworker's coat had belonged to Grant's assistant, who left Lily with two men beneath the aisle.
Lily had heard one man tell the other that the bride must never know Arthur was returning.
She assumed Arthur was another lawyer.
Margaret heard the name and turned away before anyone noticed her fear.
Grant had Eden.
Marcus controlled the tunnels.
They were all converging on Lake Road.
Lily removed Caroline's note from her torn pocket.
The sprinklers had soaked it until the black warning began to dissolve.
