Chapter 15 - Breaking Ground

Six months passed. The crisp autumn air swept through Brooklyn as Maya stood before a newly renovated brick building. Above the glass doors, a sleek metal sign read: The Sterling Tech-Bridge Center.
The grand opening wasn't marked by tuxedos or champagne. Instead, the room was filled with local high school students, teachers, and community leaders. Laptops hummed on modern workstations, and the excited chatter of teenagers exploring 3D printers and coding software filled the air.
Maya walked through the lab, her heart swelling with a quiet, fierce pride. A young girl with dark hair and a worn backpack tugged on her sleeve. "Excuse me," the girl said shyly, holding up a tangle of wires and a small circuit board. "Are you the one who knows how to program these?"
Maya crouched down to eye level, smiling warmly. She saw the same spark in the girl's eyes that she had possessed at that age—a hunger to build, to understand, and to prove herself.
