Chapter 19 - The New Legacy

Halfway through the evening, Maya stepped up to a modest podium at the front of the room. The chatter died down as parents, students, board members, and investors turned their attention to her. In the back row, Claire Vance stood holding a cup of coffee, offering a supportive smile.
"A year ago, the Sterling Foundation was known for its exclusivity," Maya began, her voice projecting clearly across the room. "We defined our worth by who we kept out. Tonight, I look around this room, and I am incredibly proud to say that our worth is now defined by who we let in."

The crowd erupted into applause. Maya looked at the beaming faces of the teenagers in the front row. They were brilliant, hungry, and entirely unbothered by the archaic rules of high society.
"We are not just funding scholarships," Maya continued, her eyes meeting Claire's, then Sofia's. "We are funding the future. We are proving that power isn't a weapon to be hoarded—it is a tool to be shared. Thank you all for believing in this new blueprint."
