Evelyn reopened the board conference and asked Thomas to remain available for a procedural question.
He appeared from a private room at the Halcyon, still calm and professionally concerned.
Mara held up Harlan's letter but did not reveal its accusation.
"Who first proposed Meridian Systems?" she asked.
Thomas said the recommendation came through procurement.
Daniel checked the original approval file.
Thomas's electronic signature appeared at the bottom.
"I approve hundreds of vendors," Thomas replied.
"Who told Harlan about Adrian's succession right?"
Thomas's expression changed by less than a breath.
"Grant had access to historical trust records."
Evelyn corrected him.
Grant's access excluded superseded succession drafts.
Those drafts existed only in the chair's archive and Evelyn's sealed records.
Thomas suggested Evelyn had been compromised.
Mara watched him redirect suspicion with the ease of long practice.
"Why did you meet Harlan in Geneva last November?" she asked.
Thomas denied the meeting.
Mara had invented the location to test him.
"Then why not deny knowing him?"
Thomas realized his mistake too late.
He had denied the meeting while accepting the relationship.
Daniel searched travel expenses and found no Geneva trip.
He did find Thomas in Zurich on the same day as Grant's photographed bank visit.
Thomas ended the conference without explanation.
Owen reported that he had left the Halcyon room and was heading toward the parking garage.
Security stopped him before he reached his car.
Thomas returned to the camera under supervision but refused further questions without counsel.
Mara did not need a confession that night.

Daniel revoked Thomas's board credentials under the emergency resolution.

Grant looked down.

Mara heard again the language of people who treated consequences as someone else's responsibility.

He had expected Grant to become a visible villain if anything failed.
Grant had expected Mara to become his shield.
Both men had underestimated her willingness to let the truth become public.
Near midnight, the reputation campaign began losing momentum as Valecrest released authenticated timelines, lender confirmations, and a careful statement protecting Lily's privacy.
Mara refused to publish personal insults or photographs of Grant and Celeste.
The evidence was enough.
Employees received direct reassurance that salaries, benefits, and hotel operations were secure.
Guests were offered transparent updates without sensational claims.
The company survived the night because Mara answered manipulation with facts.
At twelve seventeen, Owen called from the Halcyon lobby.
The scattered money had been collected as evidence and counted.
It totaled eighty-seven dollars.
Inside one folded bill, staff found another handwritten code.
It opened Grant's private cloud archive.
