Chapter 13: The Interception

The white truck smashed through the flimsy wooden barrier of the Navy Yard’s main gate, turning sharply onto the deserted access road. Suddenly, two heavily armored black SUVs emerged from the shadows of an adjacent alley, slamming into the sides of the truck with calculated, crushing precision.

The truck shuddered, its tires blowing out as it skidded to a violent halt against a concrete median.

Before the dust could even settle, Elias and Marcus were out of their vehicles, weapons drawn and tactical flashlights blinding the truck's cab.

"Step out! Hands where I can see them!" Marcus roared, ripping the driver's side door open and dragging a dazed guard onto the pavement.

Sullivan kicked open the passenger door, a pistol in his hand, but Elias was already there. With a swift, brutal strike to Sullivan’s wrist, the gun clattered onto the asphalt. Elias slammed the trafficker against the side of the truck, securing his hands behind his back in a zip-tie with blinding speed.

"It’s over, Sullivan," Elias said, his voice cold and devoid of mercy.

Back in the command center, Clara let out a shaky breath, tears of relief finally spilling over her eyelashes.

On the monitors, she watched Elias holstering his weapon. He walked to the rear of the truck and pulled the heavy latch, rolling the door up. Inside, five terrified young women huddled together in the darkness, flinching away from the sudden light.

Elias didn't step inside. He stayed at the edge, crouching down to their eye level, lowering his hands to show he meant no harm.

Clara smiled through her tears, knowing exactly what he was saying to them.

You're safe now.
