Chapter 15: The Ghost is Caged

While the medical team tended to the girls, Elias walked toward a reinforced steel door at the far end of the garage. Inside the holding room, Sullivan was handcuffed to a heavy metal table. The trafficker’s arrogant sneer had vanished, replaced by a sullen, calculating glare.

Elias entered the room alone, closing the heavy door behind him with a resonant thud.

"You think you’re a hero, Vance?" Sullivan spat, blood crusted at the corner of his mouth. "My buyers are some of the most powerful men on the eastern seaboard. You just made a lot of very rich, very dangerous enemies."

Elias leaned over the table, his expression completely devoid of emotion. "Your buyers are currently dealing with frozen assets and anonymous tips sent directly to federal prosecutors. They don't care about you anymore, Sullivan. You are a liability."

Sullivan’s bravado faltered. "The cops can't hold me. I own the precinct."

"I know," Elias said, straightening his suit jacket. "Which is why you aren't going to the precinct. My associates in the federal government have a special facility for human traffickers who operate across international waters. You are going to a deep, dark hole, and you will never see the sun again."

Elias turned and walked out, ignoring Sullivan’s sudden, panicked shouting. Justice, in Elias's world, was absolute.
