Chapter 12: Exhibit A

The turning point of the trial came on the second day. The prosecutor stood before the jury box, holding a small plastic evidence bag containing the SD card Clara had risked her life to retrieve.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the defense has called my client a liar," the prosecutor said smoothly. "They claim her injuries were a clumsy accident. Let's see what the house saw."

The courtroom lights dimmed, and a large monitor flickered to life.

The high-definition footage played in agonizing clarity. The jury watched as Mark shoved Clara, pinning her hands to the glowing red stovetop. They heard Clara’s raw, visceral scream echo through the silent courtroom. They saw Mark looming over her, delivering his cruel threat about the hospital. And finally, they heard Eleanor’s cold, dismissive voice: "She needs to know her place."

A collective gasp swept through the jury box. One juror visibly wiped a tear from her cheek; another glared at Mark with outright disgust.

The lights snapped back on. The silence in the room was deafening. Mark stared blankly at the defense table, his face pale, while Eleanor shrank into the wooden bench, her socialite facade entirely pulverized. Clara let out a long, quiet breath. The truth was finally out in the open.
