Chapter 10: Sarah’s Stand

Eleanor shoved past Julian, who was momentarily stunned by the ambush. Her wild eyes locked onto the trembling boy hiding behind his mother.
"If I can't have the estate, neither can you!" Eleanor shrieked, lunging toward Leo with outstretched, clawing hands.
Sarah didn't think; she reacted. Tapping into a primal, unyielding maternal instinct, she threw her entire body weight at Eleanor. The two women crashed hard onto the harsh, gravel-covered roof. Eleanor thrashed frantically, tearing at Sarah's white wedding dress, but Sarah was fueled by pure adrenaline.

She scrambled over Eleanor, pinning the older woman’s wrists to the rough ground. Sarah pressed her knee hard into Eleanor’s chest, completely neutralizing her leverage.
"You are done!" Sarah screamed down into Eleanor's face, her voice cutting sharply through the wail of approaching sirens. "Your reign of terror over this family is over! You will never touch my son again!"
