Chapter 12: The Aftermath

Ten minutes later, the city's power grid stabilized, and the venue's massive floodlights roared back to life, washing the roof in a stark, bright glow. The immediate threat was completely neutralized.
Paramedics had set up a quick triage near the roof access door. A medic flashed a penlight into Leo’s eyes, checked his vitals, and finally offered a warm, reassuring smile. "He’s perfectly fine," the paramedic said to Sarah. "Just exhausted and a little shaken up."
Sarah exhaled a breath she felt she’d been holding for hours, pulling Leo into another crushing hug.

Julian walked over, slipping off his own ruined suit jacket. He draped it tightly over Sarah’s bare, shivering shoulders. He pulled both of them against his chest, pressing a long, firm kiss to Sarah’s forehead.
"It's over," Julian murmured into her hair, his voice thick with emotion. "She's locked up, and her hired help is in federal custody. You two are safe."
