Chapter 11 - A Lesson in Grace

Two weeks later, the opulent lobby of The Grand Belmont felt different to Brandon. Gone was the tailored designer suit; in its place was the crisp, standard-issue navy vest and name tag of the Guest Services team.

An elderly woman was standing near the concierge, looking visibly distressed. In the past, Brandon would have signaled a junior staff member to handle it while he retreated to his office. Today, he walked directly toward her.

"Ma'am, is everything alright? I'm Brandon. How can I help you?" he asked, his voice gentle.

Tears welled in the woman's eyes. "I've lost my husband's pocket watch. He passed away last year. I thought I had it in my purse, but it's gone."

Brandon didn't promise miracles, nor did he brush her off. He spent the next hour personally retracing her steps, crawling under velvet sofas in the lounge, and coordinating with the housekeeping staff. When he finally found the silver watch tucked between the cushions of a lobby chair, the pure, unadulterated gratitude in the woman's eyes when he handed it back moved him in a way his executive salary never had.
