The manager's office was a stark contrast to the lively gala outside. It was quiet, lined with rich oak bookshelves, and dominated by a large, pristine desk—Brandon's desk. Eleanor bypassed the guest chairs and stood near the window, looking out at the Chicago skyline.

Brandon stared at the floor, his hands clasped tightly in front of him. "Ms. Vance, I can explain. The pressure... Chloe comes from a world where titles mean everything. I wanted to give her the life she expected. I just let the lie get out of hand."

Eleanor’s eyes softened, though her posture remained rigid. "I hired you because you had potential, Brandon. You understood the logistics of a luxury hotel. But you clearly do not understand the heart of it. You allowed your title to become a weapon for your fiancé to wield against anyone she deemed beneath her."
