Chapter 16 - Stepping Up

"Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention!" Brandon called out, standing on the first step of the grand staircase. The authority in his voice was not born of a title, but of calm competence.
The crowd quieted slightly. "I know you are cold, tired, and frustrated. We are currently at full capacity, but I promise you, nobody is going back out into that storm. We are going to take care of you."
May you like
Brandon immediately switched into high gear, utilizing the deep logistical knowledge he still possessed from his time as GM. He directed the bell staff to open the grand ballrooms. He grabbed a radio and coordinated with the kitchen to brew vats of hot coffee and prepare hundreds of bowls of soup. He ordered the housekeeping staff to raid the storage closets for every spare blanket, cot, and pillow they had.
He didn't just give orders; he worked alongside them. He carried heavy stacks of chairs, served soup to shivering children, and sat with anxious elderly guests, assuring them they were safe. He was the anchor in the storm.
