Chapter 15 - The Chicago Freeze

Mid-January brought a historic blizzard to Chicago. The snow fell in heavy, blinding sheets, bringing the city to an absolute standstill. O'Hare International Airport canceled all flights, and the interstates were completely shut down.

By 6:00 PM, the lobby of The Grand Belmont was absolute chaos. Hundreds of stranded travelers, cold, exhausted, and frightened, poured through the doors seeking shelter. The hotel was already near capacity, and the sudden influx overwhelmed the front desk. The digital reservation system began to lag under the strain, and a palpable wave of panic spread through the crowded lobby.

Marcus, the interim GM, was stuck in the suburbs, unable to navigate the closed roads. The night manager was overwhelmed, struggling to field the angry shouts of guests demanding rooms that simply did not exist.

Seeing the system breaking down, Brandon took a deep breath, stepped out from behind the front desk, and raised his voice just enough to carry over the din.
