Chapter 9 - The Verdict

Chloe scoffed, twisting the heavy diamond ring off her finger. "You're right. We do." She slammed the ring onto Brandon's mahogany desk. The sound echoed sharply in the quiet room. Without another word to Brandon, and without a single glance of apology toward Eleanor, Chloe turned and stormed out of the office, the door slamming behind her.
Brandon stood staring at the ring, the symbol of his failed deception glittering under the desk lamp. He looked broken.
"I’ll pack my things, Ms. Vance," Brandon said quietly, his voice devoid of emotion. "I am deeply sorry for the embarrassment I caused you tonight."

"Pack your things from this office, yes," Eleanor replied, her tone firm but not unkind. Brandon looked up, confused.
"I am not firing you, Brandon," she continued, stepping away from the window. "Terminating you would be the easy way out for both of us. But I do not abandon my staff when they lose their way. However, you are no longer the General Manager of The Grand Belmont."
