Chapter 19 - The Restitution
While the criminal trial had concluded, a civil suit against the Harrington Estate and Julian for damages was settled quietly out of court. The Harringtons' lawyers, eager to stop the financial bleeding and public humiliation, agreed to all of Sarah’s terms without a fight.
Sarah refused to touch a single penny for herself. Instead, she worked with a financial advisor to place the entirety of the settlement into an irrevocable trust for Lily. It was enough to guarantee that her daughter’s future college tuition, first home, and healthcare would be fully covered.
Signing the final documents in her attorney's office, Sarah felt a profound sense of closure. She had not let Eleanor buy her silence with dirty money on a porch step, but she had successfully forced the legal system to hold the Harringtons financially accountable for the terror they had inflicted.
