A year after the day in the parlor, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was glittering with lights. Vance Enterprises was hosting its annual charity gala, celebrating a record-breaking year in profits and the successful launch of their clean water foundation.
Eleanor stood near the podium, looking radiant in an elegant, flowing emerald gown. The harshness that had once gripped her features was gone, replaced by a warm, confident glow.
Marcus stepped up beside her, handing her a glass of sparkling water. "The keynote speaker is ready when you are, Eleanor. The board is thrilled. You've completely turned the ship around."
"We turned it around, Marcus," she corrected gently, clinking her glass against his. "I couldn't have navigated this without my team."
