Chapter 2: The Turn of the Tide

Before Julian could fully bask in his perceived triumph, the heavy, white-and-gold double doors of the parlor swung open with a definitive thud.

Marcus, Eleanor’s fiercely loyal executive assistant, strode into the room. His double-breasted black suit was immaculate, his black tie perfectly knotted, and his posture rigid with professional purpose. He walked straight past Julian and Chloe as if they were nothing more than pieces of outdated furniture.

Marcus stopped a few feet away, standing at military attention as he addressed only the woman in the white suit. "Boss," he announced, his clear voice cutting through the thick tension in the cavernous room. "The board has voted."

Julian smirked, puffing out his chest and stepping forward. "Go on, Marcus. Tell her she's finished. Tell her I'm in charge."

Marcus remained completely impassive, his dark eyes fixed firmly on Eleanor. "You now hold one hundred percent of the shares."

The silence that followed was absolute. Julian’s arrogant smirk vanished instantly, replaced by an exaggerated mask of sheer, unadulterated shock. Beside him, Chloe’s jaw practically hit the floor, her grip on Julian's arm tightening in sudden panic. The color drained entirely from Julian’s face as the crushing reality of Marcus’s words settled in. One hundred percent. It meant every proxy, every silent partner, and every shadow share Julian thought he had manipulated had actually been quietly acquired by Eleanor.

Eleanor gracefully rose from the golden chair. She raised a manicured hand and delicately touched her mouth, inspecting the single drop of blood on her fingertip. The vulnerability she had briefly exhibited evaporated, replaced by the icy, unyielding demeanor of a true corporate titan.

She leveled a glacial stare at the man who had just sealed his own ruin.

"Freeze all accounts," Eleanor ordered, her tone flat and devoid of any mercy. "And evict them from my property."
